The assignment was to further develop Läsborgarmärket, a reading initiative by Akademibokhandeln that encourages children to read books and collect badges along the way. The goal was to explore how the concept could become more accessible and engaging for both children and parents.

We started by looking into how children, parents and store staff experienced the existing concept. Through interviews, surveys and other user-centered research methods, we gathered insights that helped guide the next stages of development. Among other things, we identified challenges around accessibility, awareness and how to keep children interested in reading over time.

Based on our findings, we developed an app concept designed to complement the existing Läsborgarmärket rather than replace physical books and rewards. The idea was to let children track their reading progress, collect digital badges and take on different reading challenges. We also wanted to create a stronger connection between reading at home and visiting Akademibokhandeln’s physical stores.

My role involved research, interviews and data collection, as well as working on early prototypes and further developing the app’s features.

Project Brief:
A group project in design and concept development, carried out in collaboration with an external client. The assignment was to explore a real-world need and develop a solution using user-centered design methods.

The process involved research, user studies, brainstorming, concept development, prototyping and iterative design. Through workshops, user testing and feedback from the client, the idea was to gradually refine and improve the proposed solution.

The project concluded with a prototype, a report explaining our research findings and design decisions, and a presentation to the client. It also included individual documentation and reflection on our own contributions and the overall design process.
