CV / Portfolio
Viktor Olsson
My name is Viktor, and I’ve spent most of my life creating things in one way or another. Mostly music, but also websites, logos, videos and even a portable stage.
For over ten years, I’ve played drums in a band called Marigold. It’s been a huge part of my life and has taken me to places I probably never would have ended up otherwise.
After five years working as a music designer, and with my rock star dreams starting to fade a little, I decided in the spring of 2024 that it was time to give university a shot. I’m originally from Dalarna, a region in central Sweden, but these days I live in Stockholm, where I’ve been studying IT, Media and Design at Södertörn University since the autumn of 2024.
Studying has given me the chance to explore more of my creative interests and dive into things like interaction design, web development and digital media.

The assignment was to further develop Läsborgarmärket, a reading initiative by Akademibokhandeln that encourages children to read books and collect badges along the way. The goal was to explore how the concept could become more accessible and engaging for both children and parents.
We started by looking into how children, parents and store staff experienced the existing concept. Through interviews, surveys and other user-centered research methods, we gathered insights that helped guide the next stages of development. Among other things, we identified challenges around accessibility, awareness and how to keep children interested in reading over time.
Based on our findings, we developed an app concept designed to complement the existing Läsborgarmärket rather than replace physical books and rewards. The idea was to let children track their reading progress, collect digital badges and take on different reading challenges. We also wanted to create a stronger connection between reading at home and visiting Akademibokhandeln’s physical stores.
My role involved research, interviews and data collection, as well as working on early prototypes and further developing the app’s features.
Project Brief:
A group project in design and concept development, carried out in collaboration with an external client. The assignment was to explore a real-world need and develop a solution using user-centered design methods. The process involved research, user studies, brainstorming, concept development, prototyping and iterative design. Through workshops, user testing and feedback from the client, the idea was to gradually refine and improve the proposed solution.
The project concluded with a prototype, a report explaining our research findings and design decisions, and a presentation to the client. It also included individual documentation and reflection on our own contributions and the overall design process.

Verket is a concept for a youth-run bar and café in Flemingsberg, designed as a meeting place for culture, creativity and community. The project was a group assignment where one of my main responsibilities was designing the logo.
The concept took inspiration from Flemingsberg’s architecture and industrial character. The idea was to create a place where the raw, somewhat rough surroundings could meet something warmer, more creative and welcoming. That contrast also became the starting point for my logo design.
I wanted the logo to capture the meeting between the industrial and the creative. Something that felt bold and confident, but still had a softer, more inviting side.
I started with the typeface Bebas Neue, whose strong, straight letterforms suited the look I was going for. To give the logo a character of its own, I modified the letters by rounding off their upper sections while keeping the lower parts straight and angular. This contrast became a way of visually bringing the harder and softer elements together.
Behind the wordmark, I added three stylized pillars that form a simplified skyline. The inspiration came from Flemingsberg’s tall buildings and concrete-heavy surroundings, but also from older industrial buildings and their distinctive window shapes. I liked how this connected the area’s architecture with the name Verket, while allowing the same shapes to appear in both the symbol and the typography.
Below the wordmark, I placed the text Bar & Café in a slightly curved arrangement, using the typeface Poleno Medium. At first, I considered leaving it out, but I felt it actually added something important. The softer, more playful typography created a nice contrast with the bold wordmark and made the overall design feel more welcoming.
I also wanted the logo to work in different settings, from signage and printed materials to websites and motion graphics. That’s why I paid particular attention to keeping the shapes clear and recognizable, making sure the logo would still work at smaller sizes and in black and white.
Project Brief:
A group assignment focused on developing a visual identity for an existing concept, with particular attention to the target audience, brand identity and visual communication. We started by developing two different design directions, which were presented and evaluated before choosing one to develop further. The final result had to include a cohesive visual identity with a logo, typography, color palette, imagery and slogan, along with mockups showing how the concept could be used across different platforms and materials.
An important part of the process was considering the target audience’s needs and explaining how our design choices supported the concept’s purpose, message and overall visual identity.

In an individual interaction design project, I explored how to improve the user experience of Fresh Ventilation’s app, which is used to control ventilation systems at home.
An earlier heuristic evaluation had identified several usability issues, including navigation, contrast and feedback. I wanted to see how these issues affected people actually using the app, so I conducted observations and interviews with two users.
The research showed that certain features and settings were difficult to find and understand, especially for people unfamiliar with ventilation terminology. Based on what I learned, I put together a list of requirements and started sketching out a simpler interface.
I began with a paper prototype to explore different solutions before moving on to an interactive high-fidelity prototype in Figma. I decided to make the most commonly used features easier to access, while keeping the more advanced settings in a separate section.
The goal was to make the app’s existing features easier to find, understand and use. The next step would have been to test the prototype with users and refine the design based on their feedback.
Project Brief:
An individual project in interaction design and user-centered design, focusing on analyzing, evaluating and improving an existing digital interface. The assignment involved heuristic evaluation, user observations and interviews to identify user needs and develop a set of requirements. Based on the findings, design ideas were explored through sketches and paper prototypes before being developed into an interactive high-fidelity prototype.
The project followed an iterative design process, focusing on usability, prototyping, design decisions and reflecting on how digital interfaces can be improved to better meet users’ needs.

A logo concept for Valmont, a fictional clothing brand inspired by alpine adventures. I went with simple, timeless typography and used the letter M to create two stylized mountain peaks. The result was a wordmark and a symbol that could work just as well on their own as they do together, both built around the same visual idea.

Ahead of the release of Bang on My Drum by my band Marigold, I created an animated music video. The project had a pretty tight deadline, which meant I had to move quickly from the initial idea to the finished video. Just like with my previous animation projects, I handled all the illustrations and animation myself.
Our album Bonny & Goliath was partly inspired by the early space experiments involving monkeys, which also explains why they make an appearance in the video. Musically and visually, we were going for an 80s vibe. The album explores themes like humanity’s relationship with the planet, power, and our seemingly impressive ability to mess things up for ourselves. I wanted to bring some of that into the video as well, mixing colorful and slightly absurd visuals with a darker, more dystopian undertone.
I drew and illustrated all the graphic elements before bringing everything to life in After Effects. The result was a music video that felt right at home with the album’s visual and musical style, while also tying into the bigger themes behind the songs.

I built the website in WordPress, focusing on easy navigation, clear information about the services offered and making it simple for visitors to request a quote or get in touch directly.
The idea was to keep things simple and functional, making sure visitors could quickly find what they were looking for without a bunch of unnecessary features getting in the way.

I created a website for my mum, who designs, makes and sells silver jewelry. The original idea was to have an online shop where customers could browse her jewelry and place orders directly through the website.
After a while, though, we realized that running an online shop involved more administration than made sense, especially for her. So we decided to simplify things and focus on showcasing her jewelry instead, making it easy for customers to get in touch by email or phone to place an order.
The website was built in WordPress and has a fairly simple design. In the end, we landed on a solution that was easier to manage and made much more sense for her business than our original idea.

After creating the music video for Spiralen with my band Marigold, I was approached by Sofia Sandén and Maria Jonsson, who wanted an animated video for their song Vad ska jag göra?.
The only real guideline was that the video should appeal to children. Apart from that, I had complete creative freedom to come up with the visual style and decide how to bring the song to life.
Just like with Spiralen, I handled the entire visual production myself. I drew and illustrated every element using a drawing tablet and Adobe Illustrator, then brought everything to life in After Effects.

During my time as Marketing Coordinator at Moveum, I was tasked with creating separate websites for the company’s four main product categories: Funktionskabin, Funktionskök, Funktionsgarage and Spisvakt.
The idea was to give each product category its own website, with a clearer focus on the products and the people they were aimed at. Working alongside an external SEO consultant, I designed and built the websites in WordPress, focusing on structure, content and making the products easy to understand and explore.
The result was four standalone websites: spisvakt.se, funktionskabin.se, funktionskok.se och funktionsgarage.se.

During my time as Marketing Coordinator at Moveum, then known as Athena Nordic, the company decided to change its name and develop a new visual identity. I was involved in the process alongside an external design agency, and after plenty of ideas and different concepts, we eventually settled on a logo I had designed.
The name Moveum is a made-up word meant to represent movement and progress. I wanted to capture that idea in the symbol, so I started with the letter M, mirrored it and placed the two shapes facing each other inside a circle.
The idea was to create something that could be interpreted in different ways. The circle might bring to mind the Earth or a ball in motion, while the shapes together also form a stylized person in a wheelchair. That last detail felt particularly relevant since Moveum specializes in home accessibility adaptations, and many of its customers use wheelchairs.
I wanted the logo to be simple and easy to recognize, but still have a little more to it than meets the eye. The fact that it also connected the company’s new name with what they actually do was something I particularly liked about the final result.

I created the music video for Allt kommer bli bra (Cape Lion Remix) by my band Marigold, combining footage I shot myself with stock footage and old home videos from our childhoods. The clips came from different sources and had quite different looks, so a big part of the editing process was making everything feel like one cohesive video. In the end, the mix of old and new footage became a big part of the video’s character.
